We facilitate and encourage communication between Horizon Nuclear Power and the local community

The role of the Project Liaison Group (PLG) is to facilitate communication between Horizon and the community.

The members are invited to represent the interests and concerns of their respective groups and organisations, playing an active and constructive part in the discussions that take place during the PLG meetings.

It is a meaningful and transparent discussion platform where both positive and negative issues can be raised by both PLG members and Horizon for open and honest discussion. Where possible, and practical, action will always be taken by Horizon as a result of the issues raised.

In January 2019 Horizon announced that it was suspending work at Wylfa Newydd, as well as at its second site at Oldbury, after it hadn’t been possible to reach an agreement on the financing and associated commercial arrangements in time to sustain ongoing levels of development. Horizon hopes a way forward will be found, in discussion with UK Government, that will allow activity to resume and see large-scale, secure, low carbon electricity delivered from the site.
